Strategic partnershic with Njord Aquaservice

  • 12/11/2024

Njord Aquaservice, a company owned by Helge Gåsø’s Frøy Kapital, has entered into a strategic partnership with Remora Robotics, further strengthening its position in the aquaculture industry. The agreement includes an equity investment and the integration of Remora’s autonomous cleaning robots into Njord’s growing fleet of service vessels.

This collaboration marks a significant step toward more sustainable, efficient, and data-driven fish farming. Through this partnership, customers will be offered a “clean net guarantee”—a fixed-price monthly subscription service that ensures clean nets using autonomous underwater robots.

–  Clean Net Guarantee’ is more than a service. It’s a whole new way of thinking about aquaculture operations, where technology, sustainability and fish health go hand in hand.

We’ve followed the development of autonomous robots for years, and believe we’ve found technology ready for large-scale roll-out, says Anders Gåsø, Managing Director at Njord Aquaservice

Remora Robotics has spent several years developing autonomous robot technology for net cleaning. These robots not only clean gently and consistently but also gather data on the cage environment, enabling smarter decisions in daily operations.

– Autonomous robots for net cleaning deliver major benefits for the aquaculture industry—improved fish health, reduced environmental impact, and valuable data collection. With Njord Aquaservice and Frøy Kapital on board, we are now well-positioned to roll this out along the Norwegian coast and internationally. Together, we will enable security and predictability around net cleaning and precision aquaculture, says Svein Erik Gregersen, CEO of Remora Robotics.

The partnership aligns with Frøy Kapital’s broader strategy of building strong, sustainable players in the aquaculture sector.

– We see great opportunities in the aquaculture industry and, with our investments in Njord Aquaservice, Remora Robotics, and NL Marine, we are strongly positioned to contribute to more efficient and sustainable operations both in Norway and internationally,” says Helge Gåsø, main owner of Frøy Kapital and chairman of Njord Aquaservice.

The partnership between Njord Aquaservice and Remora Robotics marks an important step in the evolution of modern aquaculture—bringing together automation, data, and sustainability to deliver cleaner nets, healthier fish, and more intelligent farming practices.
